The Alachua County Education Compact, Alachua County Public Schools, and Santa Fe College is hosting the third annual Career Discoveries Day on Saturday, November 4, at Buchholz High School from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The Alachua County Education Compact hosted Career Discoveries Day the last two years, where more than 300 students interacted with more than 50 business professionals and local exhibitors each year. Career Discoveries Day a 3-hour workshop expose students and their parents to emerging career opportunities in the following industry sectors: Education, Health Sciences, Advanced Logistics, Business, Information Technology, Digital Media and Graphic Design Technology, Institute of Public Safety, Emerging Technologies and Financial Workshops. Joleen Cacciatore Miller, Executive Director, Gainesville Sports Commission will be the keynote for Career Discoveries Day. As executive director of the private not-for-profit Gainesville Sports Commission, Joleen bid on, host and help others host a variety of sporting events within Alachua County to create economic impact by direct visitor

spending and hotel stays. Joleen manages all daily activities of the Commission, work with local hotels, businesses, sports organizations, and local government. The Gainesville Sports Commission is the sports marketing branch of Alachua County. Joleen market to national sports governing bodies and event owners to attracted sporting events into the Greater Gainesville community.

Career Discoveries Day expose students and their parents to emerging career opportunities in the following industry sectors: Education, Health Sciences, Advanced Logistics, Business, Information Technology, Digital Media and Graphic Design Technology, Institute of Public Safety,

Emerging Technologies and Financial Workshops.

Each industry sector will have a speaker to present emerging careers in his/her industry to entice students to attend his/her breakout session. Each breakout session will feature a panel of peer Business professionals and Santa Fe College students who will discuss career pathways for each targeted industries (identified above), share their story of success and answer questions from the audience.
